Get Bricks

Installation and setup

Let’s get Bricks installed on your WordPress site.

Installing Bricks works exactly like any other WordPress theme.

Log into your account at my.bricksbuilder.io and download the latest version as a ZIP file.

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes
  2. Click Add New
  3. Click Upload Theme
  4. Select the bricks.zip file from your computer
  5. Click Install Now

If the upload fails, it is usually because your WordPress site does not allow large enough uploads. Make sure your max file upload size is set to at least 64 MB. As a last resort, you can unzip the file on your computer and upload the bricks folder via FTP to /wp-content/themes/.

Once Bricks is installed, you’ll see a new Bricks menu item in your WordPress dashboard, along with a notification prompting you to activate your license.

Click Bricks > License (or the notification link). This opens the license activation screen.

  1. Copy your license key from your Bricks account
  2. Paste it into the license field
  3. Click Activate License

You should see a confirmation that your license is active.

That’s it, Bricks is ready to use!

For details about license limits, staging URLs, managing activations, and how updates work, check out this article.

You now have Bricks installed and licensed.

Here’s what your server needs to run Bricks:

  • PHP 7.4+ (PHP 8.0+ recommended)
  • MySQL 5.6+
  • WordPress memory limit: minimum 64 MB (512 MB recommended)
  • Max file upload size: minimum 64 MB
  • Modern browser: Use the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge when editing with Bricks

Most modern hosting environments meet these requirements out of the box. If you’re facing issues related to these requirements (such as being unable to upload and activate Bricks), look up how to increase your PHP memory limit and upload size, or contact your host to confirm these values.
